A question on breeding Blue Hermit Crabs

If I were to breed two blue hermit crabs, or one blue with one normal, is there any chance of the couple having blue offspring? Or is painting them the only way to get more blue hermit crabs?

Painting is the only way. The painting doesn't mess with the genes, its just paint. So you can't send something to an offspring that has no genetic code for it.
