Re: Sabre-Toothed Mooselion!
We would also need the adult ones. I was thinking about these, but I wasn't sure about suggesting them.

They would be part of the same growing course, though?

Of course. Remember the mother? That's the adult.

I attempted to make an egg a while ago, but I scrapped it because it was horrible.

I will try doing these. But I must warn you, most of time, I don't use a sketch, but draw and sprite it with my mouse.

Well, I finished the female sprite.
I hope you like it. And for the male, I had an idea, how about manes on it, like a lion has. I think it would look great.

and the idea with the male having lions manes sounds really cool!
shading could be smoother maybe?

I like it but the style of shading you shaded it is different then the style of shading the other creatures on avadopts has. :/

Wow, that's pretty good!DarkNymfa wrote:Well, I finished the female sprite.

May I have permission and do some more shading and brushing up?
Re: Sabre-Toothed Mooselion!
Everyone has their own style of shading. If we wanted the shading to be the same on all the creatures on Avadopts, then there should only be one people doing the spriting.DragonTamerChris wrote:DarkNymfa wrote:Well, I finished the female sprite.

That being said, the shading could use a few touch-ups, such as making it smoother, like Demon said. I do like the shading on the antlers though. Very nice job there. The pose of the creature looks so odd and anatomically awkward though. The hind legs look too long for its body, and I feel like it's of balance. The legs need to be blocked out to make the sprite look like it's on solid ground and not going to fall over.

Making it smoother, you say, but I have no idea how to do so. As for the legs, I really strugeled with the hind legs, I guess I was too happy that they didn't look like they were boneless that I ingnored it. I will try to adapt them. But the shading style, DTC and Reb were saying it has to be dithered, but I think it looks bad, is it such a problem that my shading is different?PhazonDragon wrote:Everyone has their own style of shading. Re: Sabre-Toothed Mooselion!
Well to me the shading on the legs looks strange.
It doesn't have to be dhitered for shading but it would most likely look better, the penguin adult isn't really dhitered.
Can we see the dhitered version to see which the community likes better?

Re: Sabre-Toothed Mooselion!
Also, I think that the antlers look kind of squishy and plush-like. They need to be more rigid. And like dtc said, try some styles of shading and see which the community likes the best.
Re: Sabre-Toothed Mooselion!
Well right now the shading is very sudden and sharp. Using more shades to smooth it out will help, though if you don't want to use so many shades, then I recommend dithering. Dithering can give you a nice effect, and a nice texture. For example:DarkNymfa wrote:Making it smoother, you say, but I have no idea how to do so. Dithering on the dragon's hide and wings. Dithering on the armor. Dithering on the feathers on the chest.
The shading you did on the antlers looks nice, and it doesn't look like dithering. Why not trying using that same technique for the body, if you don't want to try dithering? Would probably switch the two, actually. Since Rebs thinks in the antlers looks like pillows. The antlers are hard material, the shading would be hard there, while on the body, which is furred, the shading would be smoother, and if you add a bit of dithering, I really do think you could get a nice fur texture.
But before you even do that, the sprite looks off balance. [s]I had a nice diagram of blocking out the legs, but I don't know where the picture went, so I'm going to have to look for more...[/s] Found it! But the thing is, you'll want to position the legs in such a way that they are all sturdy, on the ground, or at least if it were to put a foot down, they would be. I say blocking off, because you'll want to have a square stance for it, if that makes sense...
Like so. This is concept art for a figurine. If the legs weren't positioned right, then the figure would fall over instead of standing on its own. Does this make sense?

Re: Sabre-Toothed Mooselion!
I see the point. I will try a bit with the antlers, but I will show what I have now.
I've took some contrast of the brown, added a shade more, redrawn the hind legs. How is the sprite now?

Re: Sabre-Toothed Mooselion!
you aren't done with shading I think.
This doesn't look like fur. Do you know what I mean?
There aren't enough light reflexes to look like fur.
but I like the sprite at all. It looks nice^^
edit:
I'm speaking of the hind leg.

Re: Sabre-Toothed Mooselion!
The shading is looking so much better. I think you could add a few touch-ups and maybe some more shades to smooth it out even more. And if you ask me, I can see a little bit of fur... as if the fur was very short and fine, though if you could possibly try to add a bit of texture with different shades, that might help. Or even making the outline a bit... scruffy. Yes?
The bigger paw I think helps a bit, though now it looks out of proportion with the other paws. And I still don't think the sprite is on sturdy legs yet. It's stance still looks awkward to me.
Also... Ear? I'm not seeing an ear. Or is it hiding behind the antler?

The thing that bothers me the most is its scrunch up body. It seems... Unnatural to me for some reason.

I agree with ignite444, very good sprite otherwise. ^^
As you can see in the picture, the hind and front legs are further apart.

The actual idea was that it was a 3/4 picture, so that you don't see the body that well, but I guess I forgot it while working on the sprite...
And I think I will try a bit around with it, if I have time to do so, but I don't think I can get the adult done before Christmas.
