The Phoenix

There may have been phoenixes in the Avatar world at one time since they are indeed mentioned in the finale (Phoenix King). Now, phoenixes come in different forms depending on the culture and imagination.

Personally, I like Fawkes' design:

A pheonix is apparently a fire spirit, and has a gold tail. It apparently dies from an 1000 yrs lifespan, when dieing it burns into ashes and creates a new egg, so maybe in the quest the pheonix could die and you would gather the next egg

I like that idea. After all in the show Lord Ozai said he would rise from the ashes as the new king like a phoenix. I like the idea of a fire-like phoenix, it looks more powerful. However I also like the bird in the first picture. Maybe a mix of the two would look nice, like a plume of fire on the head, or a fiery tail.
