Arctic Chicken

Post  ignite444 on Thu Sep 16, 2010 12:05 pm

We don't know anything about this creature, but based on what I read about arctic birds, I'm going to assume they are basically chickens with webbed feet, and either all black, or black and white.

Click on the link, it is a very large picture.

Thanks! If anyone plans on spriting them, make sure to fix the anatomy problems.

Actually the wiki says it's a mix between a chicken and a arctic fox. Maybe.

I would expect to see it looking fluffier (because they need a lot of feathers to keep them warm), with more of a furry look, and perhaps a fox-like face instead of chicken eyes and beak?

Well, do whatever you think would be better. Just because the Wiki says it doesn't mean it is true.

The thing is, I don't think arctic foxes live in the South Pole. :/

But like I said, do whatever you think would make more sense. I might redraw it to look more fox-like if anyone wants me to.

I think it looks awesome as it is, maybe you could make the crest webbed too, like an...amphibian artic chicken thing

My guess would have been chicken and ptarmigan, but I do like your sketch.

What the heck is a ptarmigan?

Well, I did also plan on drawing a chicken/arctic fox mix. That would be interesting.

It's this chubby little bird, kinda like a grouse. I suppose I'm thinking Rock Ptarmigan, so spoiler's got pic and WikiLink. You find them in Alaska, Europe and Canada. I've read books where people ate 'em, and they're what I though of when I heard "Arctic Hen" because that's pretty much what they are.

Well, this is the Avatar world, so it is more than likely a cross. That's a good animal for the "hen" part though.
